Librarian visit:

I met with Stav Vitoratos at the Dawson library. She showed me how to use the Dawson library site to find scholarly articles, which in and of itself didn’t help much because I had already been taught how to do that. What was very helpful is how she showed me to refine my searches to find better articles. She told me about how it was important to look for bigger picture articles because they can help get a better understanding of the subject and there might not be any texts specifically related to your topic. Another thing that she taught me which helped a lot is how to use Google Scholar, which she told me is much more effective than the Dawson archives for finding articles on specific topics. For example, on Google Scholar you can search “dealing with celebrity deaths” and the results will be much more specific than if you were to search that in JSTOR for example.
